Tragedy Strikes Perth: Baby Found in Stormwater Drain
Perth was shaken on Monday afternoon as the body of a newborn infant was discovered in a stormwater drain in the northern suburb of Alexander Heights. Authorities were alerted to the scene on La Salle Road around 1 PM after the heartbreaking find.
Police immediately initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. In a statement, a WA Police spokesperson shared, “Multiple resources have been deployed to the location, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is currently underway.” Ambulance crews were also dispatched but were later stood down.
Alert Issued to Perth’s Maternity Hospitals
One of the pressing concerns for authorities is the well-being of the infant’s mother. Maternity hospitals across the area were issued an alert as part of the investigation, urging any individuals with related information to come forward. The discovery was reportedly made by tradesmen performing maintenance work in the area.
Major crime detectives were stationed at the scene throughout Monday, with parts of the road near adjacent bushland blocked off as investigations continued. Residents have been encouraged to report any unusual activity or information relevant to the case to authorities immediately by contacting the WA Police at 131 444.
