A terrifying home invasion unfolded in one of Melbourne’s wealthiest suburbs, leaving a family traumatized and several individuals injured. The incident occurred at a residence on Oxford Street, Kew East, when five masked intruders stormed the home early in the morning.
Violent Attack on Family Home
The 39-year-old father and his wife were asleep when the intruders allegedly broke in around 4 a.m. The gang, one of whom was armed with a machete, allegedly dragged the couple into separate rooms, inflicting horrifying violence during the ordeal. Victoria Police reported that the father tried to resist but was repeatedly stabbed in the head, face, and arms.
Grandparents Caught in the Chaos
The grandparents, aged 69 and 70, attempted to intervene but also suffered injuries during the attack. They were later taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Remarkably, the couple’s two young children, aged two and three, were unharmed despite witnessing the harrowing events.
Intruders Flee with Family’s Luxury Vehicle
Four of the masked offenders fled the scene in the victim’s luxury BMW, while a fifth escaped in another vehicle. Police located the stolen BMW dumped on Christie Street in Deer Park, leading them to apprehend three suspects nearby. A 24-year-old man and two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated home invasion, intentionally causing serious injury, and false imprisonment. However, two suspects remain at large.
Police React to the Brutal Incident
Detective Sergeant Leanne Trussler expressed her shock at the attack, noting, “This is awful—a family, two adults, two children, and grandparents should feel safe in their home at all times.” She emphasized the severity of the assault, describing it as deeply unsettling for the local community.
The father remains hospitalized and is expected to undergo surgery for a fractured arm and facial injuries, including damage to one of his eyes. The grandparents have since been discharged after medical assessments.

Authorities are continuing their search for the two remaining suspects involved in this heinous crime. Residents in the area are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to Victoria Police.
