
Apple has revealed an upcoming modification to its App Store age rating framework. The company disclosed that users can expect to encounter more precise age classifications for applications and games on the platform once developers integrate the new ratings. The announcement coincided with the release of public beta versions of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, and watchOS by Apple.
Apple informed developers that they need to implement these new age ratings for their apps by the conclusion of January 2026.
Region-Specific Age Ratings by Apple
An Apple Developer blog update revealed the addition of 13+, 16+, and 18+ ratings to the App Store, supplementing the existing 4+ and 9+ categories. These new rating options aim to offer users, especially parents, better insights into the applications they are downloading.
Although Apple’s site showcases the five age classifications mentioned earlier, the company stated that ratings will be tailored to different countries and regions, based on diverse
