Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the first European low-cost carrier to establish in the Gulf, is set to end its operations by September 2025. The decision comes as a result of various challenges such as geopolitical instability, regulatory limitations, and supply chain disruptions, leading to the airline’s exit after serving over 3.5 million passengers in 2024 with ultra-low fares and connections to 30+ destinations. This departure leaves a significant void in the affordable regional air travel landscape of the Gulf, paving the way for potential fare increases and disruptions for millions of travelers.
