Vantage Data Centers has officially commenced construction on a significant $2 billion data center campus in New Albany, Ohio, marking its first substantial infrastructure project in the Midwest. Located near Columbus, this campus will cover 70 acres, providing over 15 million square feet of space and an IT capacity of 192 megawatts (MW), thereby establishing Ohio as a crucial hub in the global cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.
The first building’s construction is slated for completion by late 2025, aligning with Vantage’s strategy to meet increasing demands for secure and eco-friendly data centers. Vantage has strategically selected New Albany, a rapidly growing region in Ohio, to leverage the burgeoning tech industry and favorable market conditions. This entry is part of a broader initiative to support hyperscale clients—major technology companies requiring expandable data storage solutions—while serving a strong customer base in need of reliable, low-latency digital infrastructure.
Ohio’s central location offers logistical advantages that attract further tech investments and promote a competitive landscape for tech-oriented construction and job creation. Vantage aims for net-zero operational carbon emissions by 2030, incorporating energy-efficient designs and seeking LEED Silver accreditation for the New Albany campus. Additionally, Vantage will collaborate with local educational institutions to establish training programs, enhancing workforce development for the data center sector and supporting local economic growth.
