
An 11-year-old girl tragically passed away following an incident in the waters of Wacker Quay, located along the River Lynher in Antony near Torpoint. Emergency services responded to concerns for a person in the water around 6pm yesterday.
Despite efforts including emergency treatment, the child, from South Devon, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities, including paramedics, fire crews, Coastguard teams, and helicopters, were involved in the search.
Police have clarified that the circumstances of the death are not suspicious, as reported by a police spokesperson. The family of the deceased has been notified and is being supported by specialized officers. The case will be handled by the coroner.
Managed by the Tamar Community Trust and volunteers, Wacker Quay is a picturesque hiking site offering breathtaking views and open access to the River Lynher.
