An 11-year-old girl tragically lost her life at a Cornwall beauty spot following a water incident. The emergency services responded to the distressing scene at Wacker Quay in Antony, Torpoint, around 18:00 BST on Saturday.
The young girl, hailing from the South Devon region, was retrieved from the water and received immediate medical attention; however, she sadly passed away on-site. Devon and Cornwall Police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
A police spokesperson affirmed that the girl’s family has been notified and will be provided with necessary support. The community is devastated by this heartbreaking event.
In a separate incident, a man was detained following the death of another man who was restrained by a customer in a local shop. Investigations are ongoing.
The inquest into the tragic passing of three-year-old Theo Tuikubulau from Torpoint revealed that doctors initially suspected an ear infection. Theo was readmitted to the hospital for sepsis, leading to his unfortunate demise in July 2022.
