After 21 years of entertaining listeners, Time 107.5FM, a beloved UK radio station, has been abruptly taken off the airwaves. The station, originally serving the east London and west Essex areas, has now been rebranded as Nation Radio London after being acquired by Nation Broadcasting.
Neil Andrews, host of the breakfast show for 18 years, expressed his disappointment at not being able to bid farewell to his loyal audience. The sudden end came as a shock to both the listeners and the presenting team, signaling the conclusion of an era.
Following the closure, former members of Time’s staff have rallied to establish All Hit Radio, an independent radio venture. Concerns have been raised by locals, including Romford-based MP Andrew Rosindell, regarding the loss of local content in favor of networked broadcasts.
The move has also piqued the interest of broadcasting regulators, with queries about the future of community-focused programming remaining unanswered by Nation Broadcasting. Despite the changes, the founder of Nation Broadcasting sees potential for growth in the London market through Nation Radio’s new FM and DAB offerings.
