Taylor Swift has addressed one of the more peculiar rumors surrounding her and boyfriend Travis Kelce, putting to rest the speculation about her supposed cameo in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2. During an appearance on the New Heights podcast with Kelce and his brother Jason earlier this week, the pop icon dismissed the idea that she was the one donning a bear costume in the Netflix film.
Setting the Record Straight
While laughing off the claims, Swift joked about exchanging bizarre tabloid theories with her NFL-star boyfriend. “This is one of those ones where [Travis and I] will send it to each other, and I’m like, ‘Hey, did you hear I was the bear?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, did you hear we bought a house in Lake Como?’” Swift quipped during the episode.
The rumor began circulating after Kelce made a cameo appearance in Happy Gilmore 2 as a waiter who finds himself smeared with honey before being ‘attacked’ by a bear. Speculation spread rapidly online, with fans theorizing that Swift was secretly in the bear suit. However, Swift took the theory in stride and expressed admiration for whoever portrayed the bear. “Whoever did the bear acting was exquisite,” she said. “At this point, we’re like, of course, they think I’m inside of the bear costume. I’m honored to be thought of in that context because I loved that movie so much.”
Praise for the Film and Cast
Swift went on to praise Kelce’s hilarious scene partner, Bad Bunny, who played a key role in the honey-drenched sequence. “He absolutely delighted me in that movie,” she shared. “He’s amazing. His comedic timing is so good.”
The Grammy winner had previously given the Netflix comedy rave reviews on her Instagram Story, saying, “Happy Gilmore 2 had me cackling and cheering the whole movie! An absolute must-watch, 13/10, go watch it on @netflix as soon as humanly possible,” adding a honey emoji for good measure.
Star-Studded Cameos
Happy Gilmore 2, now streaming on Netflix, boasts multiple celebrity appearances, including Kid Cudi, Margaret Qualley, Eminem, Post Malone, and Nick Swardson, alongside original cast members Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller. For fans, Kelce’s cameo is just one of many highlights the sequel offers.
Love Story Beginnings
Swift and Kelce also opened up about their unique love story during the podcast, recounting how their relationship blossomed after Kelce attended one of her Eras Tour concerts in 2023. Planning to hand her a friendship bracelet with his number on it, Kelce failed to meet Swift after the show but later used his podcast to share the story. To his surprise, Swift took note. “It’s kind of like being in an ‘80s John Hughes movie,” Swift said of their early days together.
The Karma singer also revealed why Kelce caught her attention. “If this guy isn’t crazy—which is a big if—this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.” She added that she found his lighthearted sense of humor and laid-back outlook refreshing. “He’s just a vibe booster in everyone’s life that he’s in. He’s a human exclamation point.”
Despite her lack of football knowledge, Swift appreciated Kelce’s non-judgmental attitude. “He’s so non-judgmental about people,” she said, complimenting his ability to focus on making those around him laugh.
The couple’s candid reflections offered a rare glimpse into their evolving relationship, which continues to capture public attention.
