Saudi Arabia has introduced groundbreaking initiatives to protect expatriate workers’ wages and improve labor rights. The Expatriate Worker Wage Insurance, effective from October 6, 2024, offers coverage up to SAR 17,500 for unpaid wages and includes repatriation benefits. Complemented by the Musaned platform and 2025 labor-law amendments promoting transparency, these initiatives mark significant progress. While praised, concerns persist around eligibility and administrative complexities, necessitating further enhancements for worker empowerment.
