
Since the abolition of the Kafala system in August 2020, Qatar has seen significant labour reforms. Notable changes include workers gaining the right to change jobs without restrictions, introduction of a non-discriminatory minimum wage, establishment of digital platforms for complaints, and implementation of heat protection measures. Despite these advancements, enforcement gaps and power imbalances persist. Major challenges remain in reshaping the labour landscape, with the need for robust enforcement and sustained compliance crucial for real-world impact.
