In light of India’s refusal to participate in the Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan is contemplating an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), according to inside information. The potential participation of India’s cricket team in the competition has stirred significant discourse, since the two nations have not engaged in a bilateral series for over a decade due to political issues.
Although Pakistan attended the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, India’s participation in the 2025 tournament in Pakistan is uncertain. Reports have indicated that the BCCI recommended a hybrid model to the PCB, proposing that India’s matches be played in Dubai. However, PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi denied such a suggestion, insistent that Pakistan will not host matches outside its borders.
A source from the BCCI, preferring anonymity, indicated to PTI that they have informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) of India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan. The ICC is expected to relay the information to the host nation and then make decisions about the tournament’s scheduling. Normally, the schedule of the event is announced 100 days prior to the commencement.
Naqvi, also a federal interior minister, said that if India continues to refuse to travel to Pakistan, he would consult with his government for further action. Dubai remains a suitable location for India’s matches due to its high-capacity stadiums and existing infrastructure, having previously organised the Women’s T20 World Cup.
