Oman is gearing up to introduce compulsory professional certifications for engineers and accountants. Starting in August 2025, engineers will be mandated to acquire the OSE certification for obtaining work permits, with accountants following suit in September. This progressive initiative intends to standardize qualifications, enhance competency levels, and further Omanisation efforts by ensuring a proficient local workforce, in alignment with the Vision 2040 objectives. The Ministry of Labour is leading this transformation through its online platform, emphasizing the significance of valid credentials for permit issuance or renewal.
