In January 20, 2024, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will require commuters to top-up their Nol cards with a minimum of Dhs20 instead of Dhs5.
When using the metro, commuters should have a minimum of Dhs15 on their Nol card (previously Dhs7.50). One-way fares range from Dhs3 to Dhs15 depending on area zones and classes.
How does a Nol card work?
With Nol cards, you can pay for public transportation around the city with a single tap, including metro, trams, buses, water taxis, and even Dubai taxis.

Ticket offices at metro stations, the RTA website, mobile app, solar top-up machines, ENOC and EPPCO petrol stations, Zoom stores, Careem, and more allow you to top up the Nol cards.

Nol cards are accepted at a growing number of Dubai merchants, whether you are shopping at a supermarket or grabbing a snack at a convenience store. You can get it at select Almaya, Carrefour, Lulu, AllDay, Zoom and other stores. Just make sure you double-check with the cashier.
