The NISAR mission, aimed at studying land & ice deformation, land ecosystems, and oceanic regions of mutual interest to the US and Indian science communities, begins a 27.5-hour countdown for the GSLV F-16/NISAR launch at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. NISAR, a joint venture between Isro and NASA, introduces a pioneering, dual-band Synthetic Aperture Radar with a comprehensive imaging capability. Utilizing the innovative SweepSAR technique, NISAR promises high-resolution imaging of global land and ice-covered surfaces every 12 days.
