Mumbai is set for another spell of heavy rainfall with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing orange alerts for Mumbai Suburban, Thane, and Palghar districts. The city experienced over 100mm of rainfall for the second consecutive day, causing concerns of potential disruptions and incidents. In the last 24 hours, specific rainfall figures were recorded, and authorities are advising residents to stay cautious, particularly in flood-prone areas. The BMC reported incidents of short circuits, fallen trees, and house collapses due to the monsoon rains. A landslide in Bhandup added to the worries, though fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The heavy rainfall has also benefitted water reserves in Mumbai’s lakes, ensuring improved drinking water supply in the city.
