Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse has emerged victorious in a £70,000 legal battle against her ex-husband, Timo Kulczak. The former couple, who married in 2003 and divorced in 2014, have been at odds over claims made in Mabuse’s 2022 autobiography, Finding My Own Rhythm: My Story.

In her memoir, Motsi alleged that Timo controlled her earnings, restricted her diet, and refused her wishes to start a family. These accusations were staunchly denied by Timo, who claimed he had been a supportive and loving husband during their marriage. In 2023, Timo initiated court proceedings, alleging that Motsi fabricated these claims to boost book sales. His legal team demanded an order to prevent her from repeating the allegations, with a potential fine of £250,000 or up to six months in jail.
However, a German judge recently ruled in favor of Mabuse, bringing an end to the long-running case. Addressing her fans on Instagram Stories, Motsi expressed her relief: “After almost three years, the legal proceedings against me have now come to an end with the court ruling in my favor. This case has been a long and challenging process… I can now close this chapter and focus on the future with renewed strength.”

Following their divorce in 2014, Motsi moved on to marry her dance partner, Evgenij Vozynuk, in 2017. The couple share a daughter and run a dance school together near Frankfurt, Germany.
Despite the courtroom drama, Motsi continues to shine in her career. She is set to return as a judge for the 2025 series of Strictly Come Dancing alongside Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, and Anton Du Beke.
