A man in New York City, identified as Esteban Esono-Asue, also known as Steven Hutcherson, was sentenced to more than 26 years in prison for stabbing two teenage tourists from Paraguay at Grand Central Terminal on Christmas Day 2023. The incident occurred when the man, sitting at a cafe table in the terminal, suddenly attacked the tourists with a fork and a knife, causing serious injuries. The judge ordered him to serve 26 to 29 years behind bars for his assault and other charges. The motive behind the attack remains unclear despite witnesses mentioning derogatory comments made by the assailant before the assaults. The victims, fortunately, survived the ordeal. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg expressed concern for the victims and emphasized the importance of safety for all transit system users.
