
Tragedy struck south of Brisbane as two fatal traffic accidents unfolded, prompting a manslaughter charge and leaving multiple families in mourning. Authorities continue to investigate the devastating incidents.
Father and Son Fatally Struck in Regents Park
A 41-year-old man from Regents Park has been charged with two counts of manslaughter following a horrific accident on Sunday morning. Around 11:03 AM, emergency services from the Queensland Ambulance Service were called to the scene near the intersection of Green and Greenridge Roads in Regents Park. A 33-year-old father and his 4-year-old son, struck by a white LDV dual-cab utility, were found with life-threatening injuries. Despite paramedics’ efforts, neither victim could be transported to the hospital in time.
The driver was apprehended at the site and later charged overnight. He is expected to face proceedings at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
Separate Fatal Rollover in Greenbank
On the same day, tragedy unfolded two suburbs over in Greenbank. A 31-year-old New Beith man lost his life when his Volkswagen Amarok rolled over on New Beith Road. Two passengers in the vehicle, a 36-year-old man from Regents Park and a 35-year-old man from Eagleby, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
Authorities from the Forensic Crash Unit are currently investigating both incidents as they work to piece together the sequence of events that led to these tragedies.
