The new Safety Hub on the Lyft app allows you to favorite the drivers you like, giving them preference on your next rides. Lyft introduced a new feature to enhance the experience of riding with strangers by enabling users to favorite or block a driver post-ride.
By favoriting a driver, you increase the chances of being paired with them on future rides, providing a more comfortable and familiar experience. Learn how to favorite a Lyft driver and understand what drivers can anticipate with this new capability.
How to Favorite a Lyft Driver
After completing your ride, you can favorite a driver on the same screen where you rate and tip them. By selecting ‘Favorite this driver,’ Lyft will prioritize matching you with your favored drivers in the future.
This feature mirrors similar functionalities in other ride-sharing apps like Uber, while still considering the closest driver for your pick-up location.
Lyft’s primary aim in allowing driver favoriting is to recognize and reward exceptional driving, as highlighted in their blog post.
Driver’s Perspective
When a driver is favorited by a passenger, they receive a notification alerting them of the selection. Subsequently, on future ride requests, drivers will be notified and can opt to accept the ride, although specific driver requests are not guaranteed.
Blocking Drivers and the Safety Hub
In addition to favoriting drivers, Lyft’s Safety Hub now enables users to block drivers they do not wish to ride with in the future.
The Safety Hub introduces various safety features such as audio recordings, PIN verifications, and the option to schedule check-ins with loved ones.
Presently, the Safety Hub is accessible for riders only, with plans for inclusion in the driver app soon.
