Killer nurse Lucy Letby is under fresh scrutiny as her legal team gears up to present new evidence in a bid to appeal her convictions. Letby, currently serving a life sentence for the murders of seven babies and attempted murders of seven others, may have hope for exoneration. A 35-year-old, Letby had allegedly raised concerns about the failing baby department she was working in and faced retaliation from supervisors. Her barrister, Mark McDonald, is diligent in challenging her guilt, sharing fresh evidence with the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC).
Moreover, McDonald has assembled a group of 14 experts to review the babies’ medical files and conducted a press conference disputing the prosecution’s stance. Despite criticism from victims’ representatives, McDonald stands firm in his quest to free Letby from her 15 life sentences. Cheshire Police is investigating additional allegations related to Letby’s tenure, with three hospital officials arrested on suspicion of negligence.
McDonald, determined to gain public and legal support for Letby’s case, has emphasized the absence of concrete evidence against her, pushing for a reconsideration of her appeals. Medical experts have questioned the validity of Letby’s convictions, pointing out flaws in the prosecution’s argument. Despite prior rejections from the Court of Appeal, McDonald remains unwavering in his efforts to secure Letby’s release.
