In a recent post on a Facebook group, a clever Kmart shopper introduced an inventive application for the store’s 175 Giant Ice Cube Tray, aimed specifically at caravanners. Users quickly labeled the idea as ‘genius’ and ‘clever.’ The shopper noted that these trays work well in the fridge to keep small jars from knocking into one another.
Following the post, many commenters chimed in with their own uses for the trays, such as storing spice jars, eggs, and even freezing small portions of tomato paste or pizza sauce after opening a jar. Content creator Caroline from TikTok had previously shared a similar hack, recommending the trays for freezing stock and other sauces like butter, garlic, or fruit.
Despite the excitement over these hacks, Kmart faced controversy in the past regarding the trays’ use, particularly when a trend emerged for baking bite-sized treats in them. Kmart cautioned against this, as the trays had not been heat-tested for oven use.
