A record-breaking amount of over £750,000 has been raised for Scottish charities during the recent Kiltwalk charity event in Dundee. The event attracted 4,600 participants who embarked on either a 20-mile or a four-mile walk through various locations in Dundee. The walk aimed to support 525 charities with every donation directly benefiting individual causes.
Kiltwalk CEO Paul Cooney expressed gratitude towards the participants for their fundraising efforts, highlighting the impact on local charities in North Fife, Dundee, and Angus. The event, sponsored by Arnold Clark, also offered participants the chance to win a car worth £30,000 as a token of appreciation. NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation and Northwood Charitable Trust were acknowledged for their support in making the event successful.
Shelly McCarthy, charity chief officer at NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation, praised the event for contributing to the health initiatives in Tayside. Participants who raised funds for Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 campaign supported charities focusing on improving the lives of individuals dealing with stage four cancer.
The Dundee Kiltwalk marked the penultimate event of the year, with the final event scheduled to take place in Edinburgh in September. The registration fee for the event remains £20, provided by The Hunter Foundation to encourage participation and support for charitable causes.
