Jeremy Clarkson, the well-known presenter of Clarkson’s Farm and former Top Gear host, has written about a heated encounter with US Senator JD Vance’s security team during their visit to the Cotswolds. Vance, who was on holiday with his family in a Grade II-listed country manor in Dean, sparked protests in the local village.
‘Not Welcome’ Party Greets JD Vance
The Ohio senator’s visit to the tranquil British countryside did not go unnoticed. Protesters gathered, holding banners, serving cake, and displaying unflattering memes of the US politician to make their discontent clear. Adding to the disturbance was a kilometer-wide no-fly zone implemented around the estate Vance was staying in, which Clarkson described as an inconvenience for filming his farm-based Amazon Prime series.
Clarkson’s Blunt Exchange
In his column for The Sunday Times, Clarkson detailed a terse exchange with Vance’s security team. According to Clarkson, a security agent approached him about a drone being used for filming. The exchange quickly escalated, with Clarkson reportedly telling the agent, “F*** off,” a statement the security personnel allegedly accepted without resistance.
Farmhand Kaleb Cooper Joins the Fray
Clarkson’s farmhand, Kaleb Cooper, also had his own encounter during the visit. When British police, accompanying the senator’s convoy of 27 black SUVs, ordered Cooper to pull over, he reportedly refused, prioritizing his task of sheltering harvest from rain. “He just told them to ‘eff off’ and continued on his way,” Clarkson stated.
‘Catastrophic’ Year for Farming
The incident comes amid a challenging period for Clarkson and the farming industry. Earlier this month, he shared on social media that poor harvest conditions had taken a massive toll on his Diddly Squat Farm. “It looks like this year’s harvest will be catastrophic,” Clarkson wrote. “That should be a worry for anyone who eats food.”
Despite these setbacks, Clarkson’s Farm remains a fan favorite, chronicling the ups and downs of farm life in Oxfordshire. The popular series continues to shed light on the challenges and triumphs of farming in modern-day Britain.
The clash with Vance’s security reinforces Clarkson’s no-nonsense persona and offers another memorable chapter in his rural adventures.
