The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, expressed frustration during a closed-door address at the 2024 central and regional government conference held at the Sentul International Convention Centre (SICC) in Bogor, West Java on November 7, 2024. His annoyance stems from the country’s dependence on imported automobiles, motorcycles, and computers, despite being the fourth most populous country in the world and having abundant natural resources.
As quoted from Antara on November 10, 2024, Prabowo expressed his intolerance of Indonesia’s technological reliance. He said, ‘I do not accept that the world’s fourth-most populous nation, greatly blessed by the Almighty with wealth and all elements necessary for advancement, cannot manufacture cars, motorcycles, or computers.’ The President is committed to introducing policies that will encourage domestic production of high-tech goods such as cars, motorcycles, and computers.
Thankful for the opportunity to serve as President, Prabowo cites his resolve to address and solve critical issues for the survival of the Indonesian nation.
