The Buck Tearoom Revitalized by Community Efforts
A cherished slice of South Ayrshire’s history is back in business! The Buck Tearoom, located in the picturesque village of Straiton, has reopened its doors after a heartfelt community effort to preserve and rejuvenate this iconic establishment. The reopening, scheduled for Monday, August 18, marks a bright new chapter as it welcomes locals and travelers alike.
New Owners with Award-winning Expertise
Lindsay Scott and Paul Smith, the dynamic duo behind the award-winning Carsphairn Tearoom in Dumfries and Galloway, are bringing their valuable experience to The Buck Tearoom. Known for their exceptional hospitality and culinary offerings, the couple is set to elevate the tearoom experience with a fresh take while honoring its rich legacy.
What’s on the Menu?
Visitors can look forward to a delicious selection of soups, sandwiches, scones, and cakes, complemented by an aromatic range of teas and coffees. While starting with a simple yet tasty menu, the tearoom plans to expand its offerings to include hearty breakfast and lunch options upon the completion of ongoing renovations.
A Triumph of Community Spirit
The reopening of The Buck Tearoom wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the Straiton Village Co-operative, supported by generous funding from the Scottish Land Fund and the North Carrick Community Benefit Company. Iain Beaton, director of the Co-operative, expressed gratitude to these entities as well as the local community for their unwavering support throughout the restoration process.
“We are extremely grateful to our funders and our community for securing the long-term future of a cherished asset. Lindsay and Paul’s expertise will undoubtedly usher in a bright future,” shared Beaton.
Looking Ahead
Lindsay and Paul have big plans for The Buck Tearoom and are excited to welcome visitors. The duo emphasized their gratitude to the community and expressed enthusiasm about continuing their additional services beyond the tearoom’s offerings. As a historic gem brought back to life, The Buck Tearoom promises to be a must-visit spot for residents and tourists alike.
