Google is launching its AI-powered virtual try-on shopping feature in the US, first introduced at Google I/O. This feature, part of the Shopping Graph offering, is accessible through AI Mode in Search, Google Shopping, and Google Images, enabling users to try various outfits virtually with ease. Additionally, Google has enhanced its price tracking functionality.
Google Is Launching Virtual Try-On Tool
In an announcement, Google shared the rollout of the virtual try-on tool in the US, allowing users to experiment with a vast array of apparel items in the Shopping Graph. The feature is integrated into AI Mode, Google Shopping, and Google Images search results.
Users with access can visit Google Shopping to select a product, while in AI Mode and Google Images, they need to search for a style and choose an item. A new “try it on” icon will be visible, leading users to upload a full-body photo for AI processing to display how the clothing fits.
The virtual try-on feature enables users to revisit past outfits, save favourites, and share looks. Powered by a custom fashion-based image generation model, the tool simulates clothing on different body types by understanding fabric behavior.
Additionally, Google is enhancing price alert functionality with new tracking options. Users can set size, color, and desired price alerts for specific products, preventing notifications for variations out of their preferences.
Google is developing a product discovery tool to assist users seeking style recommendations or event-specific outfits through AI Mode. This chatbot will suggest relevant products from the Shopping Graph using vision match technology to display likable items. The rollout for US users is planned later this year.
