The Goa government has established a council dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) to provide expertise and guidance on implementing a comprehensive AI strategy over six months. The council comprises CEOs from leading global companies and is slated to be assembled in the following half-year. The AI roadmap for Goa will prioritize skill enhancement, financial needs, government policies, infrastructure prerequisites, and a framework to attract AI-focused startups to the region. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant emphasized the introduction of AI at the educational level and its application in vital sectors such as tourism, governance, and cybersecurity. The state aims to amplify startup accelerator initiatives and seek support from the central government to realize its AI objectives, intending to be a frontrunner in adopting AI technologies among Indian states. Collaborating closely with various stakeholders, including industry players and academic institutions like BITS Pilani Goa and Goa Engineering College, the government seeks to foster AI innovation and employment opportunities in the region.
