
A devastating traffic accident south of Brisbane has claimed the lives of a father and his four-year-old son, leading to manslaughter charges against the driver involved.
Tragic Incident in Regents Park
On Sunday at 11:03 am, paramedics responded to an emergency near the intersection of Green and Greenridge roads in Regents Park. A 33-year-old man and his young son, who had been on their way to get ice cream from a nearby service station, sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a white LDV dual-cab utility. Tragically, neither were transferred to the hospital, as they succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
A small child’s balance bike, now in pieces, and a helmet were found nearby, marking the site of the tragedy as police conducted their investigation. According to authorities, the driver of the utility, a 41-year-old man from Regents Park, was immediately taken into custody. He has been charged with two counts of manslaughter and was scheduled to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
Separate Fatal Accident in Greenbank
In a separate incident occurring just two suburbs over, a 31-year-old New Beith man lost his life when his Volkswagen Amarok rolled over on New Beith Road. Two passengers, a 36-year-old man from Regents Park and a 35-year-old man from Eagleby, suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
Both incidents are now under investigation by the Forensic Crash Unit as part of their efforts to piece together the circumstances surrounding the accidents.
