
A significant emergency response unfolded on Sunday, August 17, at Strinesdale Reservoir in Oldham following reports of a woman in distress in the water. The incident, which began around 4 PM, involved a coordinated effort from police, fire crews, paramedics, and specialist water rescue teams.
The Rescue Operation
Emergency services quickly arrived at Strinesdale Reservoir, located off Waterworks Road near the A62 between Oldham and Delph. The area was promptly cordoned off as a rescue operation commenced.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police shared, “Emergency services are currently at Strinesdale Reservoir after reports of a woman getting into difficulty in the water. A rescue operation is underway.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) also issued a statement: “Just before 4 PM this afternoon, two fire engines from Oldham Central and Chadderton fire station, along with the Water Incident Unit from Heywood, were called to an incident on Waterworks Road, Oldham. The crews responded quickly and have remained on site for over an hour.”
