Dubai is set to illuminate this year’s Festival of Lights with an exciting lineup of Diwali festivities, uniting diverse communities throughout the city from October 25 to November 7, 2024. Residents and visitors are encouraged to save the dates for an array of immersive cultural experiences, including comedy, musical tributes, theatrical productions, and various free community events.
Curated by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the Diwali event calendar promises to engage families and friends in the joy of the season, bringing wonder and happiness to all. A series of spectacular fireworks displays will light up the night skies in celebration of the festivities. Families and friends can enjoy these fireworks at two prominent locations in the city: Al Seef on October 25 and Global Village on October 25, 26, and November 1 and 2, all starting at 9:00 PM.
One of the main attractions of this year’s Diwali events is the Noor Festival of Lights, taking place at Al Seef from October 25 to 27, produced by TeamWork Arts. This three-day cultural fair will showcase lights, artistic expressions, interactive experiences, and thrilling performances, all set against the backdrop of Diwali decor and fireworks. Activities will include puppet processions, theater performances, poetry readings, and musical shows, as well as stand-up comedy, painting and design workshops, and a variety of traditional Indian delicacies, spread out along an 18-kilometer promenade. Attendees can also explore a traditional souk and the delightful alleyways filled with restaurants, boutiques, and attractions.
Another exciting cultural event, Deepavali Utsav 2024, will be hosted on October 26 at Etisalat Academy Dubai. This celebration will feature vibrant Indian folk dance performances along with a funfair that offers games, rides, and various activities for all ages. Visitors can indulge in an array of Indian treats from food stalls, ensuring a lively festive atmosphere for everyone.
Global Village will celebrate Diwali from October 28 to November 3, highlighting artistic Rangoli creations, captivating performances on the Main Stage, and additional fireworks displays. The Festival of Lights Market, presented by the India Pavilion, will provide a unique Diwali shopping experience. Culinary options will range from street food at the Indian Chaat Bazaar to fine dining at several restaurants. Entry tickets can be purchased through the Global Village mobile app, the website, or onsite ticketing booths.
On October 27, Glendale International School Oud Metha will host Deep Utsav 2024, featuring entertainment and activities for all ages and communities, including games, competitions, and fun for kids. Entertainers such as live DJs, Dhol Tasha drummers, and dancers will contribute to the festive atmosphere, while food stalls will offer delightful treats and unique finds.
Shoppers looking to pick up festive items can attend the Diwali Fiesta Exhibition on October 26 at Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers Hotel Residence, where they can browse through collections of festive wear, jewelry, home decor, and skincare products. Additionally, on the same day, DoubleTree by Hilton M Square will present the Diwali Edit Fashion Luxury Exhibition, showcasing fashion designers, jewelry creators, and home decor items.
Comedy fans are in for a treat with Romesh Ranganathan’s return to Dubai this Diwali for a special show at the Coca-Cola Arena on October 25. The UK stand-up comedian will regale audiences with his trademark wit and observational humor during this one-night-only performance.
Music enthusiasts can enjoy ‘The Unforgettables,’ a tribute to the late Jagjit Singh, held until October 26 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, where Tauseef Akhtar, a disciple of Singh, will perform the maestro’s most beloved hits. Theatre lovers can look forward to ‘Meera: Echoes of Love’ at Dubai British School Jumeirah Park on October 26, a blend of dance, theatre, and music featuring seventy local artists celebrating the strength of women and the emotions tied to love.
Finally, the theatre thriller ‘Barff,’ written and directed by Ashvin Gidwani, will be staged at Zabeel Theatre on November 8, promising an evening filled with suspense and drama.
