Dubai is preparing to light up the city this Festival of Lights with an exciting lineup of Diwali entertainment and celebrations designed to bring together all communities from October 25 to November 7, 2024. Residents and visitors are encouraged to save the dates for an array of cultural experiences, comedy shows, musical tributes, theater productions, community events, and more. Curated by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), this calendar of Diwali events aims to immerse friends and families in the festive spirit, delivering moments of wonder and joy.
A series of spectacular fireworks displays will illuminate the night sky during Diwali, marking the commencement of the celebrations. Families and friends can catch the fireworks at two prime locations: Al Seef on October 25 and Global Village on October 25, 26, and November 1, 2, all commencing at 21:00.
A significant highlight of this year’s celebrations is the Noor Festival of Lights, taking place at Al Seef from October 25 to 27. Produced by TeamWork Arts, this three-day cultural fair will feature vibrant lights, artistic expressions, interactive experiences, and performances, all beautifully set against the Diwali decor and fireworks that Al Seef has to offer. Event activities will include puppet processions, theater performances, poetry recitations, musical acts, stand-up comedy, painting workshops, and traditional Indian delicacies, seamlessly integrated along the 18-kilometer promenade. Visitors will also have the chance to explore Al Seef’s traditional souk and the picturesque alleyways filled with dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
Additionally, the Deepavali Utsav 2024 is scheduled for October 26 at the Etisalat Academy in Dubai, featuring enchanting Indian folk dance performances alongside a funfair complete with games, rides, and activities for all age groups. A selection of Indian culinary delights will also be available from various food stalls to enhance the festive ambiance.
Global Village will host a vibrant Diwali celebration from October 28 to November 3, showcasing Rangoli art, painting performances on the Main Stage, and engaging fireworks displays. The Festival of Lights Market, presented by the India Pavilion, will offer an exceptional shopping experience, filled with a variety of dining options highlighting traditional Indian street food, particularly at the Indian Chaat Bazaar, as well as delightful meals at various restaurants. Entry tickets can be purchased via the Global Village mobile app, website, or onsite ticketing booths.
On October 27, the Deep Utsav 2024 at Glendale International School in Oud Metha will provide entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages and backgrounds, featuring games, competitions, and children’s activities. The festival will also boast live DJ performances, dynamic Dhol Tasha drum beats, and various dance performances, alongside festive stalls offering tantalizing treats and unique finds.
Shoppers can enjoy a dedicated Diwali shopping experience on October 26 at the Diwali Fiesta Exhibition, taking place at Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers Hotel Residence, with offerings of festive attire, jewelry, home decor, skincare products, and handicrafts. On the same day, DoubleTree by Hilton M Square will host the Diwali Edit Fashion Luxury Exhibition, showcasing fashion and jewelry designers alongside home decor displays.
Comedy fans should look forward to Romesh Ranganathan’s return to Dubai for a special show at the Coca-Cola Arena on October 25, promising an evening filled with laughter and observational humor. Music lovers can attend The Unforgettables, a tribute to the late Jagjit Singh, running until October 26 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, featuring Tauseef Akhtar, a talented disciple of the maestro performing Singh’s classic hits.
Theater enthusiasts will appreciate Meera: Echoes of Love, a compelling performance that harmonizes dance, theatre, and music scheduled for October 26 at Dubai British School Jumeirah Park. The production will feature an ensemble of seventy local artists celebrating the strength of women and the power of love.
Lastly, Ashvin Gidwani’s theatrical thriller Barff will be staged at Zabeel Theatre on November 8, promising an evening filled with suspense and drama, all thanks to the creative vision of Saurabh Shukla as writer, director, and performer.
