Dubai will launch the eighth edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) on 26 October 2024, featuring a wide range of fitness activities aimed at encouraging the public to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The initiative, which started in 2017 under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to establish Dubai as the most active city globally.
The DFC invites the community to engage in 30 minutes of daily physical activity over the course of 30 days. From Saturday, 26 October to Sunday, 24 November, Dubai will transform into a vibrant fitness hub, offering a variety of events and activities suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
This year’s program will feature fitness villages and community hubs, offering an expanded array of workouts that range from classic routines to the latest fitness trends. Exciting events at iconic locations will inspire and motivate citizens to engage in physical activities.
A key highlight of the DFC is the Dubai Run presented by Mai Dubai, which transforms Sheikh Zayed Road into a vast running track. Participants can choose between a 10km challenge or a leisurely 5km route, making it accessible to everyone. Registration for this monumental event has already begun, and it will conclude the DFC.
His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, emphasized that the DFC exemplifies Dubai’s commitment to promoting a healthy and active community. He stated that while the initiative encourages daily exercise, its goal is also to inspire a lifelong dedication to wellness.
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, noted the DFC’s significant impact on the community since its inception, unifying people from various backgrounds towards a shared goal of prioritizing fitness and wellness. This year promises to enhance these communal experiences, bringing families and friends together.
Registrations for the DFC can be completed at www.dubaifitnesschallenge.com, where participants can sign up for a month filled with engaging activities. Whether it’s walking, jogging, cycling, yoga, or gym workouts, there are options for everyone, including beginners. Early registrants also have the chance to win Emirates air tickets for two guests, including accommodation and entry to the Dubai Run.
Three fitness villages will be set up at Kite Beach, Al Warqaa Park, and Zabeel Park, offering free access to extensive activities including classes and sports events aimed at all fitness levels. The Dubai Municipality Zabeel Park 30 x 30 Fitness Village will feature various fitness zones, running clubs, and dedicated spaces for children.
Additionally, the newly launched RTA Al Warqaa Park 30 x 30 Fitness Village promises energizing experiences including cycling hubs and kids’ activities.
Special events like the Dubai Ride and Stand-Up Paddle will offer unique challenges, while local hubs aim to provide daily free activities to encourage a healthier lifestyle in every neighborhood.
