The eighth edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) is set to begin on October 26, 2024, offering a variety of fitness activities throughout the city aimed at increasing public participation and promoting a more active lifestyle.
Introduced in 2017 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the DFC reflects Dubai’s ongoing dedication to becoming the world’s most active city. This initiative encourages community members to achieve incremental fitness goals by committing to 30 minutes of daily exercise over 30 days.
From Saturday, October 26, to Sunday, November 24, Dubai will transform into a vast gym, offering an exhilarating 30 days of fitness fun and community events. The program is designed to cater to individuals of all ages and abilities, featuring a more extensive lineup of workout options at fitness villages and community hubs across the city, in addition to in-person classes that combine classic fitness trends with modern fads.
One of the major highlights of this year’s event is the Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, which will turn Sheikh Zayed Road into a giant running track. Participants can choose between a 10km challenge or a more leisurely 5km route. Registration for this significant event is now open.
His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, emphasized that the Dubai Fitness Challenge is more than just a requirement for 30 minutes of exercise daily; it’s about inspiring a lifelong commitment to wellness. Hareb expressed excitement about this year’s challenge, which aims to bring together residents and visitors in their pursuit of personal fitness goals.
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, highlighted the initiative’s positive impact on millions by promoting an active lifestyle. He noted that the current edition is designed to be the most community-focused yet, with diverse events aimed at uniting families and friends in the journey toward improved health.
