A pensioner is fighting for his life after being ‘pushed into a parked vehicle’ while riding his bike in Salford. Emergency services were called out to Manchester Road West, in Little Hulton, at 3.15pm on Saturday afternoon (August 16).
Greater Manchester Police received reports that the cyclist, a 70-year-old man, was travelling in the same direction as a car when the driver ploughed into him. The collision led to the cyclist being pushed into a parked vehicle, leaving him with serious injuries that are described as ‘potentially life-threatening’.
He remains in hospital for treatment this afternoon (Sunday). Officers arrested a 65-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Enquiries into the serious collision are ongoing, with GMP urging any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible. The force also wants to hear from anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam video footage showing the incident or the moments leading up to it.
Information can be passed on to GMP by calling 101, quoting log number 2110 of August 16, 2025.
