To revitalize Assam’s dairy industry, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma introduced a new enhancement with a subsidy scheme offering Rs 5 per litre to dairy farmers. The initiative, kickstarted at Guwahati, targets increasing milk production, elevating farmers’ income, and igniting a rural dairy transformation. With over 20,000 dairy farmers projected to benefit, the move aims to fortify milk supply chains and bolster rural economic prospects. The Purabi Dairy processing unit is set for a significant expansion, doubling processing capacity to cater to the state’s growing needs, aligning with the state’s vision for a robust dairy sector.
