Betaworks recently wrapped up its latest Camp VC accelerator program, selecting startups that develop native applications leveraging artificial intelligence. Announced in May, the initiative aims to explore more advanced applications of AI beyond current chatbots and writing assistants, which managing partner John Borthwick believes do not fully meet users’ needs. The 12-week program supports each startup with $500,000 from a group of investors and culminates in a Demo Day.
According to Betaworks partner Jordan Crook, participating startups fall into three categories: agentic B2B solutions, personalized software, and hardware-enabled AI. Notable startups from the program include:
- Unternet: Aims to transform how users interact with the web through AI-driven applications.
- Ursula: Creates emotionally intelligent characters for children’s companionship.
- ESAI: Helps students craft personal narratives for college applications.
- Autoplay: Develops real-time AI agents for software navigation to boost product adoption.
- Alice Camera: An AI-integrated mirrorless camera for professional content creation.
- Dessn: A Chrome extension facilitating real-time edits and coding for product design.
- Sarama: A dog collar that interprets canine vocalizations for pet owners.
- Tato: Automates documentation of IT project interactions for easier insights.
- Hopscotch Labs: Developed BeeBot, an app providing local information when using headphones.
