The 32nd Hong Kong International Optical Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organized by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA), is set to take place from November 6-8, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year’s theme, ‘Seeing is Believing,’ will introduce innovative eyewear designs and products, fostering new business opportunities.
Sophia Chong, Acting Executive Director of HKTDC, remarked that the event is more international than ever, with over 700 exhibitors representing 17 countries and regions. The exposition showcases the evolving landscape of eyewear, aligning products with trends in technology, lifestyle, functionality, and sustainability. Notably, Hong Kong holds the position of the world’s third-largest exporter of eyewear, with total exports valued at approximately HK$199 billion in 2023.
The fair will emphasize smart eyewear, a sector with a global market expected to exceed HK$100 billion by 2029. It will feature multiple group pavilions from Mainland China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, alongside the Brand Name Gallery displaying over 200 global brands.
A concurrent event, the 22nd Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium on November 7, will address myopia control, led by international scholars. The fair will also host talks on advancements in eyewear technology and sustainability. Additionally, the 24th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition will unveil finalists, highlighting local creativity.
