Dubai is preparing to illuminate the city during the upcoming Festival of Lights, featuring a spectacular array of Diwali celebrations and entertainment that will connect communities from October 25th to November 7th, 2024. Both residents and tourists are encouraged to save the dates for a variety of immersive cultural experiences, comedy shows, musical tributes, theatrical productions, and numerous free community events. These activities are specially curated by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) to embody the joyous spirit of Diwali, ensuring a festive atmosphere for all.
A key highlight of the celebrations will be the magnificent fireworks displays marking the beginning of the festivities. Families and friends can enjoy the breathtaking fireworks at two prime locations: Al Seef on October 25th and Global Village on October 25th, 26th, and November 1st, 2nd, all starting at 9 PM.
Among this year’s notable events is the Noor Festival of Lights, taking place at Al Seef from October 25th to 27th, presented by TeamWork Arts. This three-day cultural fair promises a stunning backdrop of lights, artistic expression, interactive experiences, and performances against the festive décor and fireworks in Al Seef. Visitors can anticipate an array of activities, including puppet processions, theater performances, poetry recitals, musical acts, stand-up comedy, art workshops, and traditional Indian cuisines, all along the 18-kilometer promenade filled with a traditional souk and a variety of restaurants and boutiques.
Another significant cultural event, the Deepavali Utsav 2024, is scheduled for October 26th at the Etisalat Academy Dubai. This celebration will showcase Indian folk dance performances, a funfair packed with games and rides, and an assortment of delicious Indian food stalls, securing a festive vibe for everyone.
Global Village will also host a Diwali celebration from October 28th to November 3rd, featuring captivating Rangoli art, uplifting performances on the Main Stage, and stunning fireworks. The Festival of Lights Market, presented by the India Pavilion, will offer an exciting Diwali shopping experience, while dining options will highlight the best of Indian cuisine, ranging from traditional street food at the Indian Chaat Bazaar to upscale dining at various restaurants. Tickets for entry can be purchased via the Global Village mobile app, website, or on-site ticketing booths.
On October 27th, the Deep Utsav 2024 at Glendale International School Oud Metha will cater to all ages with an array of entertainment and activities, including games, competitions, and kids’ activities. The event will feature live DJ performances, Dhol Tasha drummers, and vibrant dance performances, alongside food stalls offering an array of festive treats.
Shoppers can indulge in a Diwali shopping experience at the Diwali Fiesta Exhibition on October 26th, located at the Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers Hotel Residence, featuring festive wear, jewelry, accessories, home décor, skincare, and handicrafts. Also on that day, the DoubleTree by Hilton M Square will showcase the Diwali Edit Fashion Luxury Exhibition, featuring various fashion and jewelry designers.
Comedy lovers should not miss Romesh Ranganathan, who will return to Dubai for a special one-night show at the Coca-Cola Arena on October 25th, bringing his signature wit and observational humor to the stage. Music aficionados can enjoy The Unforgettables tribute event at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, which runs until October 26th and features Tauseef Akhtar performing popular songs by the late Jagjit Singh.
Theatre enthusiasts will have the opportunity to attend ‘Meera: Echoes of Love’ on October 26th at Dubai British School Jumeirah Park – a performance that integrates dance, theatre, and music, spotlighting the emotional strength tied to love with the participation of seventy local artists. Additionally, Indian theatre thriller ‘Barff’, written, directed, and performed by Saurabh Shukla, will be staged at Zabeel Theatre on November 8th, promising an exhilarating experience filled with suspense and drama.
