A resident of Dona Paula fell victim to a fraud amounting to Rs 3.3 lakh after being lured by a work-from-home opportunity to rate hotels. The incident happened between May 29 and 30 when unknown fraudsters contacted the victim, convincing her to rate hotels. The victim received messages through social media and WhatsApp, directing her to download the Telegram app, join a group, and make online investments. Consequently, financial transactions totaling Rs 3.3 lakh were carried out across multiple accounts. The Panaji police, with the help of intelligence and mobile surveillance, captured the accused, Rajjab Husain, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The accused was brought to court and remanded into seven days of police custody. Panaji police have filed a case under BNS and The Information Technology (Amendment) Act.
