The age at which a woman experiences her first period can offer valuable insights into her future health. Research reveals that early or late menarche can be indicative of risks related to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and reproductive issues. A recent study in Brazil examined data from over 7,000 women, highlighting the potential health implications of early and late menarche. Early menarche (<10 years) was associated with increased risks of obesity, diabetes, and heart problems, while late menarche (>15 years) showed a lower obesity risk but higher chances of menstrual irregularities and certain heart conditions. The findings emphasize the importance of understanding the link between menarche and long-term health outcomes, assisting in proactive healthcare measures.
