The University Digital Asset Xcelerator (UDAX), a collaborative pilot initiative between Ripple and the University of California, Berkeley, is transforming academic blockchain research into enterprise-ready solutions. The inaugural six-week UDAX pilot program, conducted in fall 2025, brought together nine dynamic startups operating across sectors like tokenized capital markets, decentralized insurance, and creator economy platforms. Participants gained access to Ripple engineers, UC Berkeley faculty, and industry experts to refine their technical strategies and fundraising efforts.
Highlighted achievements include:
- WaveTip: Migrated its Twitch streamer tipping platform to XRPL Mainnet and launched on the Chrome Web Store.
- X-Card: Onboarded over $1.5 million in inventory while forming partnerships with merchant communities serving thousands of collectors.
- CRX Digital Assets: Increased tokenized volume from $39 million to $58 million via Ripple’s global payments network.
Empowering Startups with Technical and Strategic Support
Through the program, participants experienced a notable 67% average increase in product maturity and 92% growth in fundraising confidence. Ripple engineers provided valuable mentorship, and startups were introduced to leading venture capitalists during an exclusive demo day at Ripple’s San Francisco headquarters. Presentations gained visibility among Ripple leadership, XRPL developers, and representatives from 13 venture capital firms.
For example, BlockBima tripled its active user base while developing climate-risk microinsurance for vulnerable communities, highlighting how such initiatives can drive socially impactful blockchain solutions.
