Google Drives TeraWulf’s AI Infrastructure Expansion
TeraWulf, the data center powerhouse, is making waves with its latest announcement. Google has committed to a $1.4 billion investment, supporting the expansion of the Lake Mariner campus in Western New York. This strategic collaboration not only strengthens TeraWulf’s position in the AI infrastructure space but also cements Google’s involvement as a critical financial partner.
Next-Generation AI Infrastructure
The centerpiece of this expansion is CB-5, a newly designed building that will deliver an additional 160 megawatts of IT load. By the second half of 2026, operations at CB-5 will be in full force. This addition takes TeraWulf’s contracted capacity with cloud platform Fluidstack from 200 MW to an impressive 360 MW, with further growth plans under discussion. These agreements have already translated into $6.7 billion in revenue, with the potential to reach $16 billion if lease renewals are exercised.
Google’s Strategic Stake Grows
As part of the deal, Google gains warrants to purchase an additional 32.5 million shares of TeraWulf, boosting its total investment to $3.2 billion and increasing its equity in the company from 8% to 14%. This move underscores Google’s continued commitment to fostering the growth of AI infrastructure while aligning with innovative technology partners.
Funding the Future
To finance this expansion, TeraWulf has introduced a $400 million offering of convertible senior notes due in 2031. The raised capital will fund ongoing data center projects, manage shareholder dilution, and support general corporate objectives. Analysts are optimistic, with price targets for TeraWulf shares climbing following the announcement. This follows a week of volatile trading that saw shares jump 60% to $8.71. Prominent financial analysts now rate the stock as a “buy” or “strong buy.”
Positioned for Success
Paul Prager, CEO of TeraWulf, expressed confidence in the partnership. “By adding CB-5, we are not only increasing our contracted capacity with Fluidstack but also further deepening our strategic alignment with Google. This marks a pivotal step in delivering the next generation of AI infrastructure.”
