Netflix has officially cancelled its reality dating series, Cheat: Unfinished Business, after just one season, delivering a significant blow to Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, who co-hosted the show. The cancellation comes as the streaming giant looks to explore new formats despite the show’s initial popularity.
Amanda Holden and Paul C Brunson Headlined the Series
Debuting in May of this year, the show featured Amanda Holden alongside relationship expert and podcaster Paul C Brunson, best known for his work on Married At First Sight. The series followed eight former couples who reunited after breaking up, some faced with the heavy revelation of infidelity within their relationships. A unique blend of emotion and drama captivated viewers, as participants determined whether they could move forward or whether their breakup was inevitable.
Pulled Despite High Viewership
While Cheat: Unfinished Business became one of Netflix’s most streamed shows in 2025, the platform has chosen to axe the series. According to The Sun, a source shared: “Despite Cheat being popular with audiences, Netflix has decided to pursue new show formats.”
Fans of Amanda Holden’s charisma and hosting abilities, however, shouldn’t despair. Amanda is reportedly in discussions with Netflix on three separate show projects. A Netflix spokesperson confirmed that Amanda remains a valued talent, stating, “Bosses love Amanda and are excited to explore future projects with her.”
Amanda Holden’s Busy Career
She continues to dominate the entertainment world with an impressive slate of upcoming commitments. Amanda currently hosts Heart Breakfast, one of the UK’s top radio shows, and filming has already begun for the fourth season of her travel series, Alan and Amanda in Greece. In addition, she will debut a BBC1 quiz show, The Inner Circle, set to launch later this year.
Emotional Connection to the Show
Speaking to OK! magazine, Amanda expressed how emotionally invested she became during the filming process. “In the early stages, I tried my best not to show too much,” she admitted. “But when you see the tears, the body language, and the vulnerabilities these couples experienced, it’s hard not to connect on a personal level.”
What’s Next for Netflix?
The cancellation marks a shift as Netflix seeks to refresh its programming strategies. As some fan-favorite shows conclude, audiences eagerly await new and innovative formats from the streaming giant. For Amanda Holden, however, this isn’t the end of her chapter on Netflix, with multiple projects reportedly in development.
