Jaguar’s electric vehicle (EV), the Type 00, was recently showcased, providing a glimpse into the British automaker’s future design approach. Gerry McGovern, Jaguar’s chief creative officer, unveiled the vision at an exclusive event during Miami Art Week. The concept vehicle is expected to invigorate a new generation of Jaguars, with sales projected to begin in 2026.
McGovern echoed Jaguar’s enduring commitment to bold creativity, citing the company’s revolutionary design heritage. He compared the Type 00 reveal to the disruption of conventions by British creatives such as David Bowie, Vivienne Westwood, and architect Richard Rogers.
The Type 00, nota bene zero-zero, signifies the latest line of iconic Jaguar models. The two zeros signify zero emissions and the inception of a new line of Jaguars, respectively. The elegant coupe debuted in ‘London Blue’ and ‘Miami Pink’, nodding towards the spirit of both cities. These forthcoming all-electric Jaguar vehicles would be the brand’s most powerful models, with a capability of 1,000 horsepower.
The interiors manifest bold minimalism with key materials consisting of brass, travertine stone, and textiles, crafted for a luxury feel. Special features include butterfly doors and a brass spine separating the seats.
A potential production model, named Jaguar Type 01, was teased with spy shots. The car showcases the Type 00’s influence with a low, wide model and extended bonnet. The range targets an all-electric reach of 478 miles by 2026, with superfast charging capacity.
Jaguar will usher in its rebrand with a four-door GT model reveal by the end of 2025 and sales by late 2026. The GT is expected to be followed by two other EV models, potentially a large SUV and a new, large two-door coupe, all to be built at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull factory, U.K.
It is predicted that the new Jaguar line will start at just under £100,000. However, with options added, the average price is expected to exceed that mark.
