Ruben Amorim finalizes his assignment at Sporting Lisbon this Sunday to step up as Manchester United’s manager from Monday, succeeding Ruud van Nistelrooy. Manchester United has struggled in the initial stage of the league under the supervision of Erik ten Hag, making Amorim’s task vital at Old Trafford.
A £180 million summer splurge brought Manuel Ugarte, along with Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, and Noussair Mazraoui, to United. Ugarte has had a difficult time settling in after his £50 million move from Paris Saint-Germain, but his reunion with Amorim, who previously managed him at Sporting, might change that.
In his two seasons under Amorim at Sporting, Ugarte flourished which gives Amorim confidence. ‘Ugarte is a very talented boy with a lot of room to grow. I am very happy to know that I have him back at Man United’, Amorim noted.
Another former Sporting player, Bruno Fernandes, currently a captain at United, is ecstatic about Amorim’s appointment. Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford also thrills Portuguese player Diogo Dalot, who anticipates a fruitful future under the new coach.
