Gianluca Rocchi, an 18-year-old drummer from Civitanova, has secured a place in the national finals of the Tour Music Fest, the largest music contest in Europe for emerging singers, rappers, musicians, and DJs. Rocchi, a scientific high school student, has been passionate about rhythm and rock for nearly a decade and studies at the Modern Music Academy in Milan.
He discovered the contest through an Instagram ad and decided to apply after researching it. The initial selection phase occurred online, during which he submitted a recorded track of ‘Burn’ by Deep Purple. After two weeks, he received news of his selection for the live auditions, where he prepared a reinterpretation of Cory Wong’s piece ‘Hastratta.’
The Tour Music Fest committee, featuring notable figures like Beppe Vessicchio and Ensi, promoted Rocchi to the next stage—national finals in San Marino. Excited about the upcoming challenge, he stated, ‘I feel charged and enthusiastic. I can’t wait to prove myself again and possibly win.’ Rocchi aspires to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston and become a professional prog-metal drummer. Notably, previous participants include successful artists like Sofia Tornambene and Mahmood.
