The Truth Behind Aneet Padda’s Rise to Fame

MyShine July 26, 2025 2 min read

Amidst the success of ‘Saiyaara,’ rumors circulated that actress Aneet Padda secured the role due to industry connections, falsely claiming she is filmmaker Nitya Mehra’s daughter. This speculation arose from a viral Reddit post, but these claims are untrue, as Aneet was born in 2002, while Nitya Mehra’s child was born in 2019.

Mohit Suri’s latest release, ‘Saiyaara,’ is receiving love from all quarters, and with that, raking in huge numbers at the box office. Amidst the success of the film, it is being speculated that the actress got the project due to her connection in the industry. The rumour of the actress being a ‘Nepo Baby’ started doing the rounds with posts on Reddit claiming that she is the daughter of filmmaker Nitya Mehra, best known for helming the film ‘Baar Baar Dekho.’ Everything started after a Reddit post titled ‘Aneet Padda Nepo Kid’ went viral on the internet. The post stated that the actress is the daughter of filmmakers Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia. It accused the ‘Saiyaara’ star of being ‘born with connections.’ However, all these claims are untrue. Nitya and Karan are parents to a child who was reportedly born in 2019. Aneet, on the other hand, was born on October 14, 2002.

The confusion, probably, was caused as Aneet referred to the couple as her ‘Bombay parents’ while shooting for ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry.’ The Amazon Prime Video show was directed by Karan Kapadia, while Nitya Mehra produced the series. The duo was like Aneet’s support system when they were shooting for the show but not her real parents.

According to Asianet, the rising actress hails from Amritsar and belongs to a middle-class family. She did her schooling at Spring Dale Senior School and attended Jesus and Mary College, Delhi, where she started modeling. Her parents like to stay away from the limelight, and not much info about them is in the public domain. The only fact known is that Aneet’s mother always supported her acting dream since her early days.

Before ‘Saiyaara,’ Aneet featured in a few commercials and did a small role in Kajol’s movie, ‘Salaam Venky.’ The actress debuted on OTT with 2024’s ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry.’
