The Truth Behind Aneet Padda’s Rise in the Film Industry

MyShine July 26, 2025 2 min read

Amidst the massive success of ‘Saiyaara,’ speculation arose regarding nepotism allegations surrounding actress Aneet Padda and her link to filmmaker Nitya Mehra.

The rumors inaccurately suggested that Aneet secured her role based on family connections, claiming she is Nitya Mehra’s daughter. However, these claims were swiftly debunked as Aneet was born in 2002, whereas Nitya Mehra’s child was born in 2019.

‘Saiyaara,’ the latest hit by Mohit Suri, is not only winning hearts but also dominating the box office. With this success, the narrative of Aneet’s casting being a product of nepotism gained traction.

The speculation labeled Aneet as a ‘Nepo Baby’ and stemmed from a Reddit post suggesting her as the offspring of renowned filmmakers Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia. The post accused Aneet of leveraging her connections for success, but all these allegations turned out to be false.

Nitya and Karan are indeed parents, but their child was born in 2019, contradicting the claims of Aneet being their daughter. Aneet’s birth in October 2002 further disproves these baseless rumors.

Exploring the Root of the Confusion

The misconception potentially arose when Aneet affectionately referred to Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia as her ‘Bombay parents’ during the filming of ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry.’ Although the duo served as Aneet’s pillars of support during the show’s production, they are not her biological parents.

Asianet’s report sheds light on Aneet’s background, highlighting her humble origins in Amritsar from a middle-class family. Her educational journey began at Spring Dale Senior School and continued at Jesus and Mary College in Delhi, where her modeling career took off.

Remaining predominantly private, Aneet’s parents opt to stay out of the public eye, with minimal information available about them. However, it is evident that Aneet’s mother played a pivotal role in nurturing her acting aspirations from an early age.

Prior to ‘Saiyaara,’ Aneet made appearances in commercials and had a brief role in Kajol’s ‘Salaam Venky.’ With her debut on OTT through ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ in 2024, Aneet’s on-screen journey began.
