A grenade is missing from the scene of an explosion that tragically took the lives of three Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies. The incident unfolded on July 18 at a sheriff’s department training facility, claiming the lives of three experienced deputies affiliated with the arson and explosives team.
These deputies were handling two grenades that had been under custody by the authorities. Unfortunately, one of the grenades detonated, and the whereabouts of the other are currently unknown. Sheriff Robert Luna revealed this unsettling information. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is actively investigating the explosion.
Sheriff Luna mentioned that thorough X-ray scans of special enforcement bureau vehicles were conducted, the blast area was meticulously combed through, and various spaces including offices and the gym were scrutinized. Despite the extensive search efforts, the missing grenade remains elusive.
“You get the drift. We have looked at everything out there that we possibly could,” Luna stated, emphasizing that the area has been secured without any public access.
